Prism Gallery
Brothers PC & Andy Valmorbida
Thank your lucky stars for Valmorbida. PC & Andy are young counterbalancing partners in the art world partaking in gallery owning, collaborations & parties that most of the world is not cool enough to even know about. PC (whom I personally find more relatable) is owner of LA's year old gallery Prism. He has charmed his way into my heart with the potential to be hated for the right reasons but more importantly, adored for the right ones. Stomping into LA & saying, "HEY IM HERE!" by peeing on a piece of the Sunset strip with this new gallery & no real experience probably doesn't sit well with everyone but, hell, it got the job done. Art has never flatlined, its always been & always will be a highs & lows thing. I think in order to keep the highs higher you have to look to the youth; People think curators, museum directors & gallerist all have to be these old people with majors in Art History. Its good to see that younger generations are starting to take notice that art doesn't always have to be in retrospect to be appreciated or on the other hand, just something to look at. New generations are finding ways to show the world that there is an experience one can have through art as a balancing act of the foundation of art AND entertainment. Im definitely not saying there isn't seriousness here. The brothers are ambitious and people underestimate ambition as a dreamers lifestyle but just because a person wants to branch out and break rules and take risks and above all, not afraid to fail, doesn't mean they wont succeed. Some folks have a passion that drives them and sets them apart from the world of average. Something like the spirit of Walter Hopps.
